Project Description
MK3 worked to develop systems to coordinate and equitably manage cascades of reservoirs by using hydrological and hydraulic modeling. This modeling was designed to focus on multi-use, optimization, and benefit sharing at the catchment level. It models all water uses and options as part of a comprehensive assessment of opportunities and risks posed by the operation of many Water Storage Infrastructure (WSI) projects in one catchment.
An e-book was developed which presents MK3‘s findings between 2010 and 2013 in two river basins, both of which are tributaries of the Mekong – the Nam Theun/Nam Kading in Lao PDR and the Sesan river in Vietnam and Cambodia, divided into the Upper Sesan and Lower Sesan respectively.
