MK 6: Hydropower Sustainability Assessment in the Mekong Region

MK 6: Hydropower Sustainability Assessment in the Mekong Region

Natalie OrentlicherMay 17, 2016

Project Description

MK6 worked to nurture developer and civil society dialogues and independently trial the Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol (HSAP) in the Mekong Region. The HSAP is a transnational code of conduct developed by the hydropower industry in response to the World Commission on Dams (WCD) and industry need for greater certainty via clear approval processes and accreditation. The project’s objective was to provide opportunities for Mekong civil society and hydropower developers to discuss and trial the HSAP as part of the outreach of the global multi-stakeholder Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Forum (HSAF).

Partners

MK6 was led by the Mekong Program on Water, Environment and Resilience, in collaboration with the Challenge Program on Water and Food, the Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Forum, and Australian Aid.
